Today’s eyeglasses are as diverse and colorful as any fashion accessory and they can come in a variety of shapes colors and styles. Whether or not it was the advent of the soft contact lens or that caused this evolution, one thing is for sure. People who have to pass up contacts to wear glasses don’t have to worry about being fitted with unattractive frames – even bi-focal lenses have gotten an overhaul!

Aviator sunglasses

Once a male dominated territory, aviator sunglasses are now hip for women to wear too! Well known for their “wrap around” style, they were originally created to meet the needs of plane pilots in the 1920’s. Now they come in a diverse range of shades and are even available by prescription. Modern aviators are even a bit sleeker than their ancestors, primarily because they no longer serve the primary need of being protective. This means that they can fit almost any facial frame.

Glasses for eveningwear

You can still be the belle of the ball and wear a pair of eye glasses. Sophisticated lenses can offer a sexy silhouette that will compliment velvet, satin, silk or lace. You may even be able to find a pair that matches a particular dress or accessories, for example, diamond studded frames can go along with diamond studded earrings and necklaces. The added appeal of wearing such glasses is that you will look both seductive and intelligent simultaneously – something that will turn heads. For men, such glasses could make them appear stately and distinguished.

Rhinestones and Funky colors

Glamour and sparkle can jazz up any outfit which is why eyeglasses that offer these accents are being bought up like hotcakes! These glasses are usually casuals and can be dressed up or down depending on the size and shape. If you are going to buy lenses that are funky or zany in style, don’t spend a ton of money on them. Why? Well, you would hate to spend $300 dollars on a pair of corrective eyewear that you can only pull out with certain outfits. Fun decorative glasses should be inexpensive, unless you know you will be wearing them quite often.

Designer names and labels

Liz Claiborne, Gucci, Modo, Ray-Bans are among the many well known names on the designer eyewear market. Although bit on the pricier end, such designer eye glasses and lenses offer great comfort and classic style. When looking for eyeglasses make sure you put an emphasis on the “classic” aspect of your purchases. Trends can come and go and you would hate to pay a lot of money for something that goes out of style in less than a year.

No matter the style, the designer, or the trend, be sure that you locate and buy a pair of eye glasses that fits your face. You don’t want to walk around with a pair of glasses that is too big for you. This tends to make a person look a bit owlish. Likewise, a small spectacle on a large face just looks odd.

When in doubt, have your ophthalmologist help you try on frames until you are satisfied. You may find that the ones that look and feel the best are on the higher end price wise, but their purchase will be well worth it.

The Description of the Human Body (La description du corps humain) is an unfinished treatise written in the 1640s by Ren Descartes. Descartes felt knowing oneself was particularly useful. This for him included medical knowledge. He hoped to cure and prevent disease, even to slow down aging.

Ren Descartes believed the soul caused conscious thought. The body caused automatic functions like the beating of the heart and digestion he felt. The body was necessary for voluntary movement as well as the will. However, he believed the power to move the body was wrongly imagined to come from the soul. A sick or injured body does not do what we want or moves in ways we do not want. He believed the death of the body stopped it from being fit to bring about movement. This did not necessarily happen because the soul left the body.

Ren Descartes believed the body could exist through mechanical means alone. This included digestion, blood circulation, muscle movement and some brain function. He felt we all know what the human body is like because animals have similar bodies and we have all seen them opened up.

He saw the body as a machine. He believed the heat of the heart somehow caused all movement of the body. Blood vessels he realized were pipes, he saw that veins carried digested food to the heart. (This was brought further by William Harvey. Harvey developed the idea of the circulation of the blood.) Descartes felt that an energetic part of blood went to the brain and there gave the brain a special type of air imbued with vital force that enabled the brain to experience, think and imagine. This special air then went through the nerves to the muscles enabling them to move.

The above is a remarkable mixture of advanced thought ahead of his time and unproved, unsound speculation which today would be called unscientific.

Each day, thousands of Americans, if not more, research workplace fashions.  Workplace fashion is often a term that is used to describe the clothing or clothing accessories that are worn to work.  Many of those individuals are looking for the “hottest,” trends in workplace clothing, so that they can “fit in,” with the fashionable or well-dressed crowd.  Many people believe that dressing in the latest fashion trends may give the reputation of being fashionable and trendy. While it is more than possible to do this, you need to display caution.

What many individuals do not realize is that there are a number of pros and cons to relying on workplace fashion trends.  One of those pros or plus sides was mentioned above.  When you wear a fashionable outfit to work, there is a good chance that you will receive a lot of compliments on your outfit. This is a nice feeling and it is one that makes many feel proud.

The only thing that you need to remember is that they are many more cons or downsides to relying on workplace fashion trends than there are plus sides. For instance, workplace fashion trends do not always distinguish between jobs and careers.  For instance, if you worked at a trendy coffee shop or retail store, there is a good chance that the dress code would be casual clothing and trendy work attire may actually be encouraged.  However, if you were to work at a law office or an insurance company, you may be required to dress more professional.  Unfortunately, many workplace fashion trends are designed for the working population in general, not specific careers.  This is where you can run into trouble if you are not careful.

Before relying on workplace fashion trends or running out to buy a new work outfit, you will want to take a good, close look at the trend in question. For instance, does the trend require the wearing of a shirt or a dress, no matter what the length?  If so, it is important that you look at what you do for a living.  If you are in a professional office setting, a dress may be perfect for you.  On the other hand though, if you were to work in a retail store as a manager or a store stocker, a dress or skirt may actually get in the way and hamper your efforts to work and be productive.  

You also need to take a close look in the fashion in question. For instance, it is not uncommon for women to wear casual business suits with a tank top or cami underneath.  Before joining in on this trend, you need to remember that you may not necessarily be able to take your work coat or sweater off, as some businesses frown upon tank tops or other revealing shirts.  Unless you regularly bring a change of clothes with you to work, you should prepare to wear what you have on all day long.

As previously mentioned, by wearing trendy workplace fashion pieces, like clothing and clothing accessories, many people are given compliments, but not always.  The last thing that you want to do is get a bad name for yourself instead of compliments.  That is why it is also advised that you take what others may think of you into consideration.  If you work in a workplace that is known for its gossip, you may want to take a close look at the fashions that you are interested in displaying.  The business world is a tough one and although it is nice to make a good impression, you need to make sure that the impression that you would be making is a good one.

The decision as to whether or not you want to incorporate the latest workplace fashion trends into your wardrobe is yours to make, but you may want to take the above mentioned points into consideration before doing so.  Unfortunately, in today’s society it often seems as if what we wear is more important than our personalities.
